Dirty Water live

The dates listed on this website are being promoted by Dirty Water Records rather than the Dirty Water Club. After the partnership between PJ and the Professor was dissolved in the summer of 2009 the Club no longer exists.

However, the record label will continue to organise occasional gigs at a variety of venues in the future. Though they will mostly be for the purpose of promoting bands on the label they may feel inclined to organise gigs for visiting bands that we like well enough.

Please make sure to join the mailing list to keep up-to-date with what is going on. Or become friends on Myspace at http://www.myspace.com/dirtywaterclub to receive invites and bulletins.

Dirty Water in The Guardian

This was in the newspaper's Film & Music supplement on Friday 8 May:

The Mummies return to Europe this summer

After their triumphant reformation gig in Valencia last October the Mummies have chosen Sardinia for their next European appearance.

Prickly Pea Bowls is a week long series of "house parties" from June 9th to 16th in Sardinia, Italy, with over 25 garage punk surf and frat rock bands over seven nights.
The whole eventis limited to just the 150 people who go for the whole package of seven nights in a two bed room at the secret resorts, with breakfast and lunch included, all for 500 EUROS... Obviously this includes the music.
Apart from the Mummies, other bands booked to play so far include the Rock'n'Roll Adventure Kids (San Francisco), King Salami & the Cumberland 3 (London), The Makeouts (Stockholm), The Anomolies (Amsterdam), The Rippers (Italy), Magnetix (Bordeux), Los Explosivos (Mexico), The Vanjas (Stockholm), Hangee V (Italy), The Intellectuals (Rome), Two Tears (New York), The Poppets (Gothenburg), Black Time (UK) with more to come.
DJs from outside Italy include PJ (Dirty Water), Pete (Slovenly Records, USA), and Reverend Beat Man (Voodoo Rhythm, Switzerland).

Easter is coming - so it's time for Le Beat Bespoke

Yes, it's getting near to Easter time and that means the fifth installment of Le Beat Bespoke, the sixties music weekend, organised by the folks of the New Untouchables.

The headlining acts are those bad boys of British sixties rhythm'n'beat, The Pretty Things, who will be performing their album SF Sorrow in it's entirety. And for you soul fans there's the Flirtations, the girl group most well known for "Nothing But a Heartache".

Dirty Water Records is organising the Saturday day time event, with The Revellions and The Wildebeests playing live.

Another band on Dirty Water Records, King Salami & the Cumberland 3 will play one of the evening sessions.

Lux Interior, R.I.P.

Dirty Water has received the following email from the Cramps' publicist:

For Immediate Release:
February 4, 2009

Lux Interior, lead singer of The Cramps, passed away this morning due to an existing heart condition at Glendale Memorial Hospital in Glendale, California at 4:30 AM PST today. Lux has been an inspiration and influence to millions of artists and fans around the world. He and wife Poison Ivy’s contributions with The Cramps have had an immeasurable impact on modern music.

The Cramps emerged from the original New York punk scene of CBGB and Max’s Kansas City, with a singular sound and iconography. Their distinct take on rockabilly and surf along with their midnight movie imagery reminded us all just how exciting, dangerous, vital and sexy rock and roll should be and has spawned entire subcultures. Lux was a fearless frontman who transformed every stage he stepped on into a place of passion, abandon, and true freedom. He is a rare icon who will be missed dearly.

The family requests that you respect their privacy during this difficult time.

Monks: The Transatlantic Feedback

After years of waiting, Dietmar Post and Lucia Palacios's documentary is to become available on DVD. With over an hour of extras, including all their German TV appearances and a banjo lesson from Dave Day, this will be a must-have purchase for anyone who's into rock'n'roll, garage punk, or experimental sounds of any kind. It goes on sale in the UK in March through all the main online retailers.

New Year's Eve at Dirty Water

Plus the Actionettes will perform their dance routines between the bands. Click on "Gigs" above and scroll down for details. Tickets are available at: http://wegottickets.com/event/39654
